New FIFA 13 Trailer Shows Off Complete Dribbling, Skill Games and More

  • by

EA Sports has unleashed a brand new trailer to showcase some of the new features that have gotten us very excited about FIFA 13.

The annual Gamescom event is here, which means there are new games appearing left, right and centre, and there’s an influx of trailers and new information for gamers to digest. EA Sports has followed the trend with a brilliant 2 minute trailer for this year’s new FIFA title, giving a little more away about the biggest improvements.

Before we get started on any of the new features, let’s just get something cleared up; You can do scorpion kicks! For those who are unfamiliar with this technique, see the below video of Rene Higuita doing one in real life to clear his goal line.

Now imagine scoring a goal like that on FIFA.

Now that we’ve cleared that up we’ve got the big name improvements to look at. Attacking Intelligence shows the ability to control attacks better than ever before; timing runs to precision for through balls. It also seems to allow the player to sneakily inch forward the wall when defending a free kick, running the risk of getting caught by the ref of course.

First Touch Control is another major improvement in the new game, and seeing it in action looks great. One major gripe with FIFA is that players still stop most of the time to trap a pass before moving on, but in the new game you’ll be able to take a touch directly into space, or flick it over or around an opponent while moving forward. This addition looks set to make the game much more fluid.

Finally, Skill Games are shown off. We’ve wasted many an hour messing around in the arena honing our skills, and now FIFA lets you train properly before playing matches. By the looks of things you’ll have cones and circuits to dribble around and targets in the corners of the goal to aim at, similar to the football mini game on Kinect Sports.

FIFA 13 launches on September 28th. Check out the full trailer below and let us know what you think!
