FIFA 14 free with all EU Xbox One pre-orders

Microsoft has held a media briefing for the Xbox One at the Gamescom in Cologne today where the company has announced that it will be offering a free copy of the incoming FIFA 14 football game by EA with all pre-orders of the Xbox One in Europe.

FIFA is likely to be top of many European gamers’ wish lists anyway when it comes to the new console so the news that the game will come free if you pre-order the Xbox One will add a definite boost to pre-orders.

Many people have been suggesting that Sony with its PS4 console has been winning the pre-order battle between the two consoles, which is helped by its lower pricing and issues with Microsoft’s Xbox restrictions (most of which have now been removed). Sony had a great head start on Microsoft, but the inclusion of a free game with pre-order will surely get many gamers’ attention. That said, a PS4 with a copy of FIFA 14 is still cheaper than the Xbox One and its free copy of the same game.

Add this to the fact that Sony PS4 has reportedly sold out its day one pre-orders it might be the time for Microsoft to make up some ground.

FIFA 14 is going to be a smash hit game regardless of the free bundle with the Xbox One so the inclusion is amazing. What’s more, EA’s Matt Bielby took to the stage during the announcement to take about a new Ultimate Team Legends feature that is coming to FIFA 14.

With this new addition FIFA 14 will feature legendary players to add to your Ultimate Team line-up this year. Players like Ruud Gullit, Franco Baresi and Freddie Ljungberg will appear in the game and be playable by FIFA gamers.

FIFA 14 will be a multi-platform release with the game coming to both versions of the Xbox and PlayStation consoles, with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions getting a release from September 27th and the PS4 and Xbox One consoles acting as launch titles when they launch nearer to Christmas.

So for anyone who pre-orders the Xbox One there will be a free digital download of FIFA 14, until stocks run out. Best act quick if this has sealed the next-gen console decision for you!
