If you’re an iPhone owner, you may have already had to use Apple’s very useful Find My iPhone service to discover where your iPhone had disappeared to. And now, Apple has decided to to extend this very useful feature to the Mac as well (just in case the worst happens).
The new Find My Mac feature has already gone live for developers and will work in a very similar way to the iPhone version, although as you’ll be aware the Macs hasn’t got integrated GPS, so instead will rely on nearby Wi-Fi networks to determine its location.
Once your Mac has been located, you’ll be able to send a message which will be displayed on-screen, or you can easily remotely lock the device or even completely wipe the contents of the hard drive.
Find My Mac is expected to be released later on this year, alongside the much anticipated iCloud service.
