Free mobile plans for UK customers from July – FreedomPop

The UK has an incredibly competitive market, which is amazing for consumers because mobile plans are always getting cheaper, but now you can enjoy voice, texts and mobile data without having to pay a penny.

That’s what mobile carrier FreedomPop is offering when it launches in July. It first became successful in the US and announced its plans to expand almost a year ago, the company has set its sights on the UK, and has told us it will provide 200 minutes, 200 texts and 200MB of data free on its very first SIM-only plan. Perfect for someone who’s not constantly glued to their phone, and to be fair don’t most of us stay connected to wifi for sending messages and browsing anyway?

Plus and this is a great feature, FreedomPop will also offer free international calling to over 60 countries and allow free calls and texts to anyone on one of its plans.

If you’re unaware of what FreedomPop is, it’s a US-based provider backed by Skype founder Niklas Zennstom that has made its name offering free wireless service. While the core service is free, it attempts to make its money from bolt-ons. Features that include the option to roll over unused data to the next month, anonymous browsing and the ability to add a second phone number to your account.

The carrier will also be launching Jetsetter, a free global roaming SIM that provides 100MB of data per month. It’ll initially be available in the UK, Spain and France before making its way to 20 more countries.

FreedomPop has already opened up its UK website, which allows you to see if you qualify for its free SIM. They will be piggybacking on Three’s network for the time being so check out Threes coverage for an idea of where it covers.
