Fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones who want to get their hands on the forthcoming DVD and Blu-Ray box set of Season 2 will have to wait just a little bit longer to get their hands on the set, as streaming and download service Blinkbox has signed a deal with HBO to add some of the US broadcaster’s top shows to the online service, including Game of Thrones Season 2.
The first two series to be provided through the service will be GoT S2 and HBO’s other successful new(ish) series Boardwalk Empire; both will be provided via the streaming service way before they are available on disc format.
Game of Thrones Season 2 and Boardwalk Empire Season 2 will be available to buy on the service in the coming weeks, along with a load of other HBO Content including The Sopranos, True Blood and The Wire.
Customers will be able to buy complete series of TV programs or just individual episodes, and thanks to the Blinkbox apps you will be able watch them streamed on a computer (PC or Mac), iPad, Xbox 360 or PS3 and even some smart TVs made by Samsung and LG.
The HBO and Blinkbox partnership began yesterday from the August 13th in the UK and users can go onto the online service to download the HBO content now. Pricing will vary but the first season of Game of Thrones costs £17.99 as a whole and individual episodes cost £1.79 each.
The only downfall of this service is you don’t get to scour through any of the excellent extra features that will be available for Game of Thrones Season 2 box sets. If the Season 1 box set is anything to go by it will be an amazing DVD/Blu-Ray box set not to miss.
And we just cannot wait for another GoT fix…
