Gears of War designer optimistic about Nintendo Wii U

Some are easily pleased it would seem, as a designer at Epic Games – the people behind the Gears of War franchise – has been voicing his optimism regarding what most of us believe was a very underwhelming Nintendo Wii U reveal.

Cliff Blezinski of Epic, who supply the Gears of War shooter exclusively to Microsoft for PC and Xbox 360 console, praises Nintendo’s “home entertainment” gaming gadget in an interview with a gaming news site. Suggesting that us cynics will “talk s**t but they’ll buy it.”

“It’s Nintendo. I’ll buy it. I know I’ll buy it” he says. “From what I’ve seen, it looks pretty cool.” – Did he see something we didn’t at the E3 conference back in June, or just attempting to cozy up with Nintendo? It’s no secret that Epic have commented on how the next-gen Wii will more than capably handle their Gears of War engine.

The games designer goes on to say that the Wii U may look and reference dated tech but that’s how the Nintendo greats start out – “The Power Glove led to the Wii, The Virtual Boy led to the 3DS, right?” and referring to the Kinect motion controller for Xbox 360 as “a sophisticated webcam, right?”

He’s fecally excited about the unique HD control system for the next Ninty, saying “It seems like you can stream your game from your television directly to your controller, so if you have irritable bowel syndrome, or a small bladder, you can still play it in the toilet.”

Here’s a man who clearly knows his s**t..
