Google has been tinkering with its search engine functionality for Android and iOS tablets to make it easier for users to use its services on post-PC devices.
The main reason for the changes is to make it easier for people to interact with Google and its services on tablets and they have done this by making the buttons bigger and increased the font size.
Google has also cleaned up the page, and changed the images searches too – which now means preview pictures are much bigger, and a continuous scrolling feature has now been implemented.
They will be rolling out more changes over the next couple days, which is part of Google’s drive to improve their Internet services.
In other news, they are also planning to speed up the Internet too. The new feature is called ‘Page Speed Service’ and promised to speed up the time it takes to load a page. They reckon that they can reduce the load time from anywhere from 20 to 60 percent.
It does this by grabbing a webpage and then “rewrites [them] by applying web performance best practices” and then the page is routed to you via Google servers.
Though this service may look like yet another plot by the search engine giant to gathering users’ information, Google has strenuously denied this and said it would not use the information collected from serving these websites towards improving search results or targeting advertising to users.
But did say that: “We may, however, use the information collected to improve the quality of Page Speed Service itself, including making pages serve even faster.”
