GTA: Vice City now Available on iOS and Android devices

Rockstar Games’s seminal GTA Vice City is now available to play on both the Android Play Store and the Apple App Store for compatible devices, allowing you to play one of the 00’s best console games on the move.

To say we are excited about re-uniting with Tommy Vercetti and his rag tag group of friends (and enemies) is a bit of an understatement.

GTA: Vice City is available now on the App Store and can be bought for £2.99. It will work on the iPad, iPhone 4, 4S & 5, iPod Touch 4th & 5th Generation. The game is currently MIA from the Play Store for Android devices after Rockstar pulled it earlier in the week due to issues found on certain devices.

We learnt not so long ago that Rockstar Games was plotting to bring a second Grand Theft Auto title to iOS and Android in the very near future – Vice City – and now we know when it will land.

The developer has confirmed that the classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be available for download from the App Store and Play Store respectively on December 6th. It also confirmed the price of $4.99, which is likely to translate as £4.99 over here in the UK.

This 10th Anniversary Edition brings the full experience of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to mobile devices, with native high-resolution graphics and several enhancements unique to the iOS and Android platforms including updated character models and lighting effects, new and more precise firing and targeting options, a fully customizable control layout and native support for Retina display devices,” Rockstar proudly proclaims.

The title will join GTA 3 which launched on both Android and iOS last year, bringing the cult classic to a series of smartphones and tablets on both platforms. The critically acclaimed title is set in the 80s and features more floral shirts, drop-top sports cars and cheesy radio tunes than you can shake a stick at, with Tommy Vercetti the sole protagonist – unlike the three characters in the forthcoming GTA V.

The game is being released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Vice City launching originally on PS2 way back in the day. Rockstar will also be offering new merchandise to celebrate the anniversary, along with a series of commemorative assets released, including never-before-seen artwork and a brand new anniversary trailer highlighting some of the most iconic scenes and music from the game.

On iOS the game will work on the following devices: iPad, iPhone 4, 4S & 5, iPod touch 4th & 5th Generation

The game will work on the following Android phones:  Motorola Razr, Razr Maxx, Razr Maxx HD, Motorola Atrix, Motorola Photon, Motorola Droid Bionic, HTC Rezound, HTC One X, HTC One S, HTC Evo 3D, HTC Sensation, HTC Droid Incredible 2, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy Note 1 & 2, Samsung S2, Samsung Galaxy R, Sony Xperia Play, Sony Xperia S, P, T & TL, Sony Walkman Z Series Media Player, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3, Google Nexus 4.

And these Android tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, LG Optimus Pad, Medion Lifetab, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 / 10.1, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P, Toshiba Thrive, HTC Flyer, Google Nexus 7, Google Nexus 10.
