I know this app has been around for a little while now but it seems to me, every time I talk to somebody about it they have no idea that it exists. Now, for a game that boasts at least 35 million players I find this quite surprising. I should imagine this is because of World of Warcraft’s gargantuan figure overshadowing its younger brother, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, sitting in the background.
It is a shame that it does not get more of the limelight. I have been playing it for over a year now and am still finding the game as enjoyable as when I started, especially considering they have just recently introduced 132 more cards.
When the Hearthstone app was released by Blizzard Entertainment it was basically a tiny version of the PC game. It had hardly been edited in any way for a small screen, which I found off-putting as my eyes just could not make out the numbers a lot of the time, especially if they were red. Gladly though, in the last couple of weeks they have been updating it and it is now a much smoother, more enjoyable experience to play.
For those of you who do not know of the game, I can only describe it as a game similar to both YU-Gi-Oh, Magic and Pokemon. It takes a reasonable ability with maths to be any good at and it is pretty educational for youngsters too. I remember reading a post by a player on Reddit claiming his 3 year old is learning maths just by playing Hearthstone!
The game is free to play and does not take up a lot of room on your storage device. There are options within game to pay for cards etc but this is not compulsory. Some say it is Pay-to-win but I believe it does not matter how much money you have, if you do not understand your cards, you will lose.
If anyone does decide to give it a try then I wish you the best of luck and hope you don’t play a mage!
