After last week’s leaked images from GSMArena, it all looked like HTC’s next big Android smartphone would be the 5-inch HTC Deluxe, but word is now coming from HTC directly that states that the smartphone will in fact not be coming to Europe at all.
The company announced this in answer to a question on HTC’s Facebook page where one fan by the name of Ingo Hochheim posted a link to the pictures that leaked last week and asked the company if they are real. In response, HTC’s German team (Ingo’s post was in German) stated:
“Hi Ingo, has Deluxe wird leider nich nach Europa kommen.”
Which after a quick spin through Google Translate comes out as “Deluxe will unfortunately not come to Europe”.
This seems a bit odd as reports are stating the Deluxe itself is a European-only name for the already released HTC J Butterfly (its Japanese variant) and the HTC Droid DNA in the US, both of which have been on sale for a few weeks now.
The rumoured Deluxe is said to have a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 4G connectivity plus a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display screen that is the cherry on the bun for the Android smartphone.
With Samsung currently leading the field in large tablet/smartphone devices it would seem that HTC want a piece of the action as the Galaxy Note 2 is selling very well at the moment.
All we know is that the HTC Deluxe certainly did look real in the press shots that came online and we think this is just a simple cover-up for HTC so that they can keep the 5-inch HTC Deluxe under wraps for a few more months till January’s CES 2012 gadget show.
