HTC’s duo of Android-based, Facebook-dedicated smartphones, the ChaCha and Salsa, have been priced and given an official UK release date by Amazon.co.uk.
Expect to shell out £249.99 or £320 for the ChaCha or Salsa respectively – that’s the SIM free pricing Amazon have listed for both handsets. The online retailer has also treated us to a release date for both handsets – June 26th.
HTC unveiled the pair of Facebook dedicated handsets at this year’s MWC in Barcelona – the ChaCha is a QWERTY handset whereas the Salsa is a full-touchscreen, both run on Android 2.2. Both handsets have a dedicated F button which takes you straight to the HTC Facebook app for Android. Pressing the button while in other apps such as the Music app also links you to Facebook, posting what you’re listening to as your status.
T-Mobile has already announced that they will be offering the ChaCha, so we suspect Orange will join in with the Facebook Phone fun. We’ll keep you posted on the release of the ChaCha and Salsa, and which UK networks will be selling them on contract.
