It looks like the design and specs of an upcoming handset codenamed the HTC ‘Zeta’ have been leaked over at Engadget. This phone is said to have a mammoth 2.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 CPU and 1GB of RAM. The other interesting items on the spec sheet include a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 (720p HD quality) display and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed along with HTC’s customary Sense UI.
The handset measures up at 109.8 x 60.9 x 9.8mm and weighs 146g. You’ll find 32GB of storage space under the hood, along with an 8-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and 1080p (Full HD) video recording, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.0 plus Beats Audio will be on board and power will be supplied by an 1830mAh battery.
The device has an interesting design that seems to be narrow in the middle and widens towards the top and bottom. You have also got the earpiece grille right at the top edge along with the camera to give the impression of a slim bezel surrounding the screen. What is interesting is the hardware keys below the display. Since the phone will come with Ice Cream Sandwich, generally there is no need to have keys, unless HTC has decided they are not ready to give up that part of their design yet and will stick with the keys for now.
On the back you can see two plastic sections with a metal band running around the middle (HTC recently said they would be trimming down the amount of metal used in their handsets). The middle section is significantly raised and then thins towards the edges. On the top is the loudspeaker, camera lens and flash and near the bottom is the beats logo and a bump for the headphone jack.
As always this image could be fake but there are enough details in there to make us think differently. You can see a slight mismatched fitting on the top left side of the metal band on the back of the phone. Also, on the side shot of the right, you can see the L-shaped cut where the battery cover comes off. So for all we know this could possibly be a photograph of the real thing.
