HTC has been very busy lately, and as well as making a pair of Pixel smartphones for Google the Taiwan-based mobile maker has launched a duo of new models under its own brand called the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle and HTC Desire Pro.
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle and Pro were officially released yesterday and it come available in a selection of stylish matte finishes including Stone Black, Polar White, Royal Blue and Valentine Lux – each with attractive gold trim.
Starting with the HTC Desire Lifestyle, this one features 5.5-inch LCD screen displaying an HD resolution of 720 p, the newest member of the Desire family runs Android 6.0 laced with HTC Sense. Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, 4×1.6 GHz processors drive the device with includes 3GB of RAM with 32GB internal storage which can be expanded to a generous 2TB by microSD.
For the snap-happy there’s a respectable 13-megapixel main camera at the rear of the smartphone which comes with auto-focus, BSI sensor and a HDR mode and the front camera comes in at 5-megapixels with BSI sensor, HDR and auto selfie modes. Powering the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is a 2,700mAh battery which offers (on average) up to 24 hours of talk time (3G) and 7 hours of Wi-Fi usage with fast charging.
Connectivity on offer includes 2G/3G/4G (LTE), Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and Wi-Fi with ports including micro-USB and 3.5mm for music via headphones (remember those?)
Speaking of music one of HTC’s signature handsets has been its focus audio capabilities and despite no longer being a Beats supported brand this Desire Lifestyle model comes with HTC BoomSound, which is found on premium handsets like the HTC One range, and is developed in partnership with Dolby to provide top quality audio – actually an extra benefit over the Pro model.
However, those looking for more power, processing and display potential the HTC Desire 10 Pro features the same sized 5.5-inch display, only at 1080p, with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor. Choice of 3GB or 4GB of RAM is available as are 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage models, both expandable to 2TB and the battery gets a boost at 3,000mAh. As far as camera tech the Pro features 20-megapixel main shooter lens and a 13-megapixel camera up front, so major upgrades there.
The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle is now available to buy in the UK for a budget friendly £249, the HTC Desire 10 Pro will be released in November with date and price TBC.
