UK Network Vodafone aren’t ones to wait around it would seem. A Vodafone spokesperson has confirmed that the network will be dropping the HTC EVO 3D before it even goes on sale.
Vodafone were originally the first UK network to stake their claim in the 3D market, confirming that they would be offering the EVO 3D on a contract basis this July. However, the handset has faced delays and the release timing of July has seemingly been swept under the rug quietly by HTC.
A spokesperson for HTC has confirmed to SlashGear that the handset will be delayed until September, meaning UK and European customers will have to wait a further two months on from the initial release which was expected this month.
“We can confirm that the HTC EVO 3D will be available to UK customers through Carphone Warehouse from September 2011″
If you registered interest in the EVO 3D on Vodafone’s page, they say you will be notified of the cancellation. The handset has also been removed from the “coming soon” section on Voda’s website.
“We realise this will come as a disappointment to some people but we already offer some fantastic phones, like the HTC Sensation and Galaxy S2, with some really exciting handsets in the pipeline” the Vodafone spokesperson told Android Community, “and we’ll continue to focus on bringing the latest and greatest smartphones to Vodafone customers.”
U.S. residents have been able to buy the EVO 3D since June 24th, but for unknown reasons HTC have been delaying the release in the UK and Europe.
LG have already beaten HTC to the point, releasing their first 3D smartphone, the Optimus 3D, earlier this month. Has HTC left it too late?
