There’s a new phone on the horizon. Is it a superphone? Is it a mid-range? No, it’s the HTC Golf – HTC’s 2012 budget phone – even cheaper than the HTC One V.
The phone’s had a few details revealed via its EXIF data, found in a photo taken by the camera, which is good as the photo itself doesn’t have much artistic merit.
We can expect to see a single-core processor with a clock speed lower than 1 GHz (probably 600 or 800 MHz), a 3.5” HVGA display, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage (which can be supplemented via micro SD cards). The phone should ship with Ice Cream Sandwich and all of the standard connectivity options, although its HSDPA network connectivity will be limited to 7.2 Mb/s (out of the theoretical maximum of HSDPA of 42 Mb/s).
The HTC Golf will be available late in Q2 this year, and will ship in a full range of colour options. Our sources have confirmed the Q2 time frame, saying that the Golf should land alongside another, more powerful smartphone this summer.
