HTC’s soon to be launched flagship smartphone may not get a fancy name when it finally goes on sale, according to a recently leaked screenshot of a Carphone Warehouse inventory system which confirms the M7 name.
For the past few months we’ve known that HTC has been working on a new high-end smartphone with the codename ‘M7’, but if UK retailer Carphone Warehouse’s internal systems are anything to go by, that’s going to be the final name.
Pocket-Lint received the snapshot from an anonymous source, and from the screen grab we can also see that the phone will come in two colours; black and silver. The black model has potentially already been revealed in a render, while the silver model was briefly shown off by HTC CEO Peter Chou at a recent company event in the Far East.
It looks as though CPW will also be offering an official hard case and screen protector from HTC themselves, although we’ve no doubt that once the phone launches next month many third party accessory makers will jump on the bandwagon.
The M7 is expected to be revealed by HTC at a media event in London and New York on February 19th, with a sale date thought to be early March. The phone is said to feature a powerful combination of Android 4.1 and Sense 5, which will be HTC’s latest twist on the Android interface.
A 4.7-inch Full HD display is expected to be the main attraction, backed up by a powerful quad-core processor and 13-megapixel rear camera with a wide angle lens and LED flash.
One thing is for sure, and that’s that we’ll have to wait until February 19th to find out for sure.
