The HTC One Mini M8 is just beginning to peak its 4.5-inch self over the horizon and as the time nears for a full unveiling speculation has inevitably turned to its pricing – which if we believe word from Finland could be higher than anybody would have expected when the phone launches later this month.
Several of the country’s mobile retailers are quoting SIM-free prices up to €520 (around £425 when converted to GBP) for the smaller sibling to first HTC M8 which went on sale on March the 25th for less than this – just slightly over £440 to reference UK stockist Unlocked Mobiles.
The Mini M8, previously referred to from numerous sources as the M8 2, will downsize the 5-inch display to a 4.5-inch display with 1080p resolution down to 720p and a drop in processor from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 to 400. The smaller Android 4.2 Jelly Bean smartphone should still feature the stylish full metal casing as the preceding model but there’s still no real justification for the high price tag quoted by the Finns.
We would guess this is a wildly exaggerated price and will take this news with a pinch of salt as official details begin to surface on out new little M8.
