At the start of August we got the first rumblings that HTC might soon be looking to offer an upgrade on its mid-range One V smartphone and there has been talk of a new model simply referred to as the ‘Proto’. Today the Proto might have broken cover as a leaked image of what’s believed to be this mystery item has surfaced online courtesy of the Verge.
Aside from an improved One X – the One XL – HTC has been pretty hush-hush since impressing us at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year and we’ve not heard much about any new releases from the Taiwanese tech co. until very recently. The Proto appears in photo appearing much like its stylish siblings in the One range and features are rumoured to come in the form of a reasonable 1GHz dual-core CPU, 5-megapixel camera with 4” WVGA touchscreen display packing a 400 x 600 resolution (same as the V). As is generally the standard for HTC we expect the Proto will come running Android and observing the specifications this is likely to be last season’s version, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Proto is believed to be getting its first official showing at the IFA event in Berlin from 31 August to 5 September 2012 – and it would come as no surprise if this one fell under the One banner when it drops its current codename.
