HTC’s long-rumoured 10-inch Android Honeycomb tablet turns out to be called the HTC Jetstream, PocketNow reports.
Screenshots leaked from the device itself show the device name as ‘HTC Jetstream’, not the ‘Puccini’ moniker that the tablet has been going under for the past 5 months or so.
The screenshots show a distinct branding from the U.S mobile network AT&T, which matches up with our estimations of a 4G tablet for the American market, made when the tablet passed through the FCC for some checks last month.
It looks as though the HTC Jetstream will be exclusively sold in America on the AT&T network, to work with their superfast 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) mobile network.
Specifications are very similar to the list that we uncovered way back in May of this year – a 1.5GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm processor, 4G connectivity plus a 10.1-inch WXGA screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution.
The operating system used for the Jetstream is Android Honeycomb, most likely 3.1, though we currently don’t have confirmation of the exact version that will be used. The great HTC Sense user interface and additional features will be also featuring on the tablet, along with some additional software preloaded by AT&T.
Similarly to the HTC Flyer, HTC’s first tablet device, it will work with their HTC Scribe touchscreen pen technology, which allows the user to notate pages on the screen with a stylus and draw pretty pictures in a MS Paint-style app.
The HTC Jetstream is due to launch stateside before the end of the year and the rumour mill is kicking into action to speculate a UK release. Apparently there will be a 3G version released in Europe under a different name – the HTC Skyrocket.
