HTC are keeping true to their word and are giving happy users of the new EVO 3D and the Sensation smartphones unlocked bootloaders.
There was such uproar when the Sensation was released due to the locked bootloader on the device; this meant that Android developers would find it very hard to tinker with the innards of the handset, and boot custom ROMs.
HTC however heard what the developer community had to say and they promised to get this problem resolved.
And we now have an update:
HTC have said via their Facebook Page that the process of unlocking the bootloader is a little more complicated than flicking a switch, and that a software update will be needed to prepare the device for the unlocked bootloader.
This update is coming to the GSM version of the Sensation in August, followed by the Sensation 4G and then the EVO 3D. This will ready the devices for the bootloader unlock which will happen around September time.
It’s nice to hear that HTC are happy for the devices to be worked on and improved by developers, and for many casual tweakers, this will be a big draw to the HTC smartphone range.
