It looks like the dual-core war is going to heat up toward the end of this summer, with T-mobile in the US promoting its “Back to School” line-up which includes HTC’s Ruby and Samsung’s Galaxy S 2 variant “Hercules” with both 4G capable gadgets set to go head-to-head in an October 26th launch.
In addition to both packing super-fast dual-core processing – 1.5GHz on the HTC Ruby and 1.2GHz on the Samsung Hercules – the advert boasts that these mobile models “share many similar top of the line features and [are] also the fastest smartphones in the market”
Continuing the comparisons we have: 4.3” qHD display on the HTC’s gem, Ruby – which comes with 1GB of RAM, generous 4.3” qHD display, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as 8-megapixel rear shooter (with dedicated buttons). For connectivity there’s Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
Meanwhile, from what we know, Samsung’s heroic “Herc” weighs in with 4.5” screen (.2 of an inch larger than your standard Galaxy S II), 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory with streaming movie service Netflix coming pre-installed. The GSII variant also features a brushed metallic finish and more rounded appearance next to its sibling.
Hercules maybe lacking a barely noticeable amount in processing speed, but he makes up for it in style – It’s hard to pick a winner at this point.
Both the HTC Ruby and Samsung Hercules (previously thought to be a Canadian exclusive) have been suggested for a September/October release, so this released promotional material from T-Mobile seems to ring true but could, as always, be altered.
