A new HTC smartphone has been discovered online, and it appears to be the second handset to feature Beats Audio technology and styling.
Codenamed the HTC Runnymede, this beast features some impressive specifications – 1.5GHz processor, 4.7-inch 480×800 screen, 768MB RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with 720p HD video recording, Android Gingerbread 2.3.4, HTC Sense 3.5, DLNA, less than 10mm thick and bundled with premium Beats headphones.
So, despite having possibly the strangest codename for a smartphone to date, the HTC Runnymede looks to be very promising indeed. It’s a shame that the processor isn’t dual-core; otherwise it could be a real powerhouse. Other specifications are similar to some high-end smartphones already on the market, but we’re told that some of the parts used and attention to detail will make this handset really stand out from the crowd.
The camera features a backlit sensor with a 28mm wide-angle lens and focal ratio of f/2.2, while when capturing video it is capable of 60 frames per second. That value is double that of the 30fps standard found on high-end smartphones now such as the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S II. So far, camera-wise this smartphone looks like it could become a market-leader.
We’re told the Runnymede will also come bundled with superior quality Beats Audio headphones as well as featuring SRS Sound technology and dual-microphones for an all-round great sound quality.
This smartphone is said to be due to go on sale before Christmas this year, though whether it will be offered on mobile networks remains to be seen. We’re hoping to get our hands on this Beats Audio beast sooner rather than later.
The first HTC smartphone with Beats Audio was discovered recently – the HTC Vigor.
