The HTC Titan went on sale in the U.K and U.S only five months ago, but it’s already common knowledge that a successor is on its way to hopefully restore faith in HTC as a Windows Phone host. The gadget was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show back in Jaunary and now AT&T in the States has now revealed a release date for the HTC Titan II as well as some of the respectable spec supporting HTC’s second try.
The HTC Titan II will feature the same sizeable 4.7” LCD display as the previous model, accompanied by 1.5GHz single-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 16GB internal memory. The Titan II will also feature an impressive 16-megapixel shooter and is the first in the HTC range to boast super-fast 4G / LTE connectivity. It’ll roll onto the AT&T network on April 8th, costing $199 with commitment to a two-year contract.
You may recall from a recent Gadget Helpline article that it was discovered that U.K mobile retailers have been pulling the HTC Titan from sale. The first Windows Phone to carry the 7.5 update (aka Mango) didn’t quite live up to its heroic name and met unpleasing sales figures, not surprising when it was entered into a competitive market with incredibly popular Nokia Lumia leading the way.
Nokia’s first Lumia and flagship model mobile was was supported by a much larger promotional push and will once again come into direct competition with HTC’s Titan line when it launches the Lumia 900 also on April 8th, at a cost of just $99 for 24 months loyalty to AT&T.
The Nokia Lumia 900 boasts many of those impressive high-spec features that wowed us on the Lumia 800. Meaning it comes with 4.3” display and Windows Phone 7.5 which runs off a 1.4GHz Qualcomm CPU. This device is 4G / LTE supportive with an impressive 8GB of onboard RAM and an improved battery capacity which should support all of its advancements on the 800. It’s expected the Lumia 900 will arrive over here a painful three months behind our Stateside friends, when it hits the U.K some when in June. No news yet on when the HTC Titan II will show up here, but the Gadget Helpline will be following both of these heavyweight contenders very closely in build up to the big head-to-head rematch.
