Huawei has confirmed that it will be launching a new Ascend P6 Android smartphone via its official Facebook page. The Chinese company has placed a zoomed in photo of the top of the range new handset along with the following text:
“#Ascend P6 Story# We do everything to the fullest. The Huawei Ascend P6 challenges all phones to be the thinnest, smallest, and one of the most compact smart phones with a screen that can rival it’s competitors. Care to guess how large the screen to body ratio is? Well on June 18th, Huawei will unleash an intimate experience to consumers.”
There has been murmurs of the Huawei Ascend P6 for a few months now and most of this speculation has suggested that the handset will be announced and possibly released in June, but today the handset has been confirmed as real, albeit with a limited amount of official information.
The image shows off a stylish looking metal body which looks like a cross between the HTC One and an iPhone 5, and we do know that the phone will have a large screen and will be just 6.2mm thick.
What’s more, another image shows off Huawei’s testing procedure with the following description:
#Ascend P6 Story# We believe that upcoming release of the flagship Huawei Ascend P6 will WOW all consumers. Huawei used the best materials and components, did amounts of reliability testing and invested a lot into the Huawei Ascend P6. Consumers often can’t imagine the amount of time and work it goes into creating such a phone. We never really had a chance to explain to the consumers that we are the best, but in fact let the phone sell itself.
The handset will run on the Android OS with Jelly Bean 4.1 most likely to be the version and this will be backed up by a Huawei’s Emotion UI on-top for added functionality.
Internally it is thought that the P6 will sport a 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM and 8GB of storage space.
More definitive information will be released on the June 18th press event, where we will expect Huawei to “unleash an intimate experience to consumers” on us.
