Huawei Technologies Co. may not be the first name on your lips when you think of technology and mobile phone manufacturers, in fact most people will say they have never heard of them at all, but many people across the UK have in fact owned one of Huawei’s Products without even knowing.
This is because Huawei is a large white-label smartphone and technology partner that has been fuelling many own-branded handset and mobile accessories for many years, but now the white-label kings are trying to step out from the shadows and are looking set to introduce their own brand of Android-based Smartphones.
Huawei has announced that it will be releasing its first branded handset entitled the Huawei Blaze, which will be a budget Android sporting smartphone with a decent spec for its cheap pricing.
The Huawei Blaze is set to come running Google’s Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of on-board storage, sporting a 3.2MP camera on the back.
Huawei is rumoured to be in talks with O2 and Vodafone over contracts and is looking set to bring the handset out to customers for around the £100 mark across the UK in September, so the phone truly is a budget smartphone.
Huawei also plans to take a step into the tablet market by trying to sell a tablet computer called the MediaPad in the next year and then will follow up the Blaze with the Huawei Vision in the U.K.
Huawei has a very steep hill to climb to try and usurp HTC, Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson as one of the leading smartphone providers but with HTC’s massive rise it goes to show that anything can happen with the right phones.
