Are you sat patiently waiting for that all-important update to Android 4.0? If you’ve got an Android smartphone running FroYo (2.2) or Gingerbread (2.3), you can now get a bite of Ice Cream Sandwich now with an app called Camera ICS+.
Camera ICS+ gives you the excellent features and interface of ICS’s camera application, but on older phones. That means you’ll get the ace black and blue interface that we showed in our video review of the Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0.
It also means you’ll get the awesome panoramic mode which lets you capture a sweeping image, which the app cleverly stitches together into one big photo afterwards.
Images can be edited after taking using several simple tools on within the app, such as sepia tone, negative and other colour effects, as well as altering the quality setting. A silent mode option has been added so you can remove the shutter sound – ideal for covert snaps.
Unfortunately there are still some features missing, such as being able to touch an area on the screen to create an autofocus point.
You can pick up a free version of the app which includes adverts (simply ‘Camera ICS’), or shell out 79p for Camera ICS+ which is add-free and more like the real deal. If you like the sound of it, you can download it from the market by following this link.
