The new and improved iPad Air 2 with Touch ID A8X chip, WiFi and 6.1mm case goes on sale in Apple and select John Lewis stores today. There is limited stock though so if you after a specific storage size and colour it may be best to preorder, this comes after pre-orders for the tablet kicked off online last week following the announcement.
The WiFi-only 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models are priced at £399, £459 and £559, respectively. The tablet is also available in a WiFi and cellular model, priced at £499, £549 and £659, respectively. Apple confirmed that the tablet will be in limited supply to begin with to allow them to cover preorders, so buyers will have to be quick.
Obviously if your too late to the party to grab one in store you can still be pick one up from Apple’s online store, with shipping promised at two to four days the wait isn’t too long. John Lewis has also started selling the iPad Air 2, opening selected stores at 8am today to mark the launch of Apple’s latest tablet. Its pricing is in line with Apple’s but it will not appear everywhere.
UK operators O2, EE, Three and Vodafone are also selling the iPad Air 2, although currently none of them appear to have the tablet in stock. O2 and EE have started taking pre-orders, while Three and Vodafone still show the device as ‘coming soon’ these will all be available on a cellular contract much like purchasing a phone.

The iPad Air 2 was unveiled at Apple’s high-profile launch event in Cupertino last week, and pre-orders began a day later. The reveal showed how they were improving on the original iPad Air, the iPad Air 2 is the first Apple tablet to come with an anti-reflective display and a built-in Touch ID sensor, allowing the tablet to be unlocked by scanning a fingerprint bringing it in line with the latest iPhones.
