Boxing legend and social media celebrity Mike Tyson has won the Internet by posting a video of his spectacular wipe-out while riding a hoverboard.
The infamous former Heavyweight Champion, who once battled gloved greats such as Frank Bruno and Evander Holyfield, was KO’d while performing spins on the Segway, falling on his back with an audible thump.
It all looked and sounded pretty painful but ‘Iron’ Mike who is known for taking the mick out of himself with appearances in the Hangover flicks took it all in good jest and shared his epic fail with his 1.7 million followers on Instagram with the hashtags #hoverboard #knockout #MikeTysonBreaksBack #imtoooldforthisshit.
Hoverboards arrived in the mainstream in 2015 and although they didn’t quite resemble what we’d hoped from watching Back to the Future Part 2, these self-balancing two-wheeled boards became one of the year’s biggest tech trends and a must-have Christmas gift.
However, their notoriety has begun to rival even that of Tyson’s bad-boy days as the potential dangers of owning them has been highlighted in a number of reports from across the globe. These reports have seen Hoverboards just bursting into flame causing damage to property and some riders have received electric shocks from the novelty scooters. Since arriving in the UK the government has advised recalls and a number of retailers have withdrawn them from the shelves.
