Italian avant-garde fashion designer Pierre Cardin is once again making his mark on the tech world. Following up from a previous poor tablet outing in 2010 in Taiwan, the former head of Christian Dior’s styling can now be seen on one of Samsung’s latest offerings.
Regarded as the world’s first “designer” tablet, Cardin’s design is a tidy little 7” slab which runs on a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, MicroSD support up to 16GB and WiFi. The tablet does however come up a little short when it comes to the OS with Android 2.2 Froyo coming as standard, forsaking Honeycomb but attempting to win us over on the style front.
You’d expect “designer” tablet to come with an equally grandiose and grossly inflated price tag, but the Pierre Cardin model from Samsung comes in at “only” £275. Chuck in one of the designer’s belts and a fancy wristwatch and you’ll start looking the part!
It’s stylish we’ll give it that. But it doesn’t feature dinosaur bone like the $8-million iPad 2 which appeared earlier this year!
