James Bond is to many a boyhood hero, fuelling film fans’ love for gadgetry and action across the generations for 50 years. To celebrate this landmark anniversary 20th Century Fox will be rereleasing all 22 movies in the MGM Bond lineage, along with a bonus disc loaded with extras, in high density high-definition “Bond 50” Blu-Ray on the 24th of September.
The 22 film set starts with the 1962 original Dr No, featuring Sean Connery as Ian Fleming’s fictional Brit agent – 007 and Ursula Andres setting the standard for all future Bond girls emerging from the sea in the iconic beach scene. The pace picks up in the gadget-laden 70s and 80s classics such as Live & Let Die and Octopussy with this blogger’s personal favourite Bond – Roger Moore (controversial?). We’re brought up to speed in the 90s with Pierce Brosnan’s Bond in titles such as GoldenEye and more recently still with current Bond Daniel Craig in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. The Bond 50 Blu-Ray collection looks to fulfil its mission, delivering “all the Bonds, all the Girls, all the Action, all in High Definition”!
And you don’t even need to be part of a global crime syndicate to grab the Bond 50 Blu-Ray set which comes in at a steal. You can pre-order now for £89 from Amazon and the fantastic packaging means you can finally replace that incomplete VHS collection which you could never keep in sequence because they kept changing the video box designs!
Alternatively, if you’re a Sky customer you can wait until early next year when all the Bonds will be replayed on the Sky Movies HD family of channels in celebration of the launch of latest adventure Skyfall which will arrive at cinemas, shaken not stirred, on the 26th of October and on the premium service mid-2013.
