If you ever wanted to own a Segway, but felt restricted by the only forward and backwards motions take a look at what the Japanese are working on..
Of course this is Only in Japan! Where else would you find a team of dedicated scientists and researchers working effortlessly to bring the ultimate in personal mobile vehicles and leisure? This is the Permoveh (get it?) – and with this one you can move both back and forth and also side to side!
Masaharu Komori, a Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Kyoto University, demonstrated the travelling tech whizzing around the floor on a innovative set of wheel within wheels attached to a seat and metal chassis. The 32 rollers, which resemble the wheels of a skateboard, sit inside the main wheels allow the Permoveh to move in multiple directions at speeds of up to 6 kilometres per hour. Steady you!
Before you let your thoughts overtake you, this one’s not cheap and it’s currently one of a kind costing 3-million yen to build (that’s around £46 – roughly translated to British Pounds!). The Permoveh should become available in a more cheaply manufactured and affordable price within the next 3-5 years when the get-around gadget is schedule to become ready for the consumer market!
