Nokia is no longer the underdog in the smartphone race (thanks to BlackBerry) which means the company’s recent successes have led to new handsets being seen quicker, and today it would seem that a potential new Nokia flagship smartphone, the Lumia 928,has been leaked online.
An image of the Windows Phone 8-running Nokia Lumia 928 has been posted by serial leakers @evleaks, via their pretty reliable Twitter account, showing off the slightly updated version of Nokia’s current flagship smartphone.
In the image we can see the now familiar Lumia styling – square shapes, bold colours twinned with black – with branding for the US network Verizon Wireless, and it would seem that the Lumia 928 will be an exclusive US and carrier specific smartphone.

The Lumia 920 is currently only available in the US via rival network AT&T so a variant of the Windows Phone 8 flagship will be the only way for other networks to stock the top of the range Lumia smartphone.
There is no information on what the extra 8 in the 928 model number will entail, but rumours suggest that the Lumia 928 will have a xenon flash added to its 8-megapixel PureView camera, and possibly some changes to some of the internal specs, but it’s looking like a minor change just so another US carrier can ship the handset.
The Lumia 928 won’t make its way over to the UK and Europe but with the range of Lumia handsets selling well over here we think Nokia should focus its attention on the next range of Lumias… 950 anyone?
