You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best!!
Gene Simmons, the iconic bassist for the US band KISS, has let his loose-tongue get the best of him by squawking about some top secret plans to bring two of the hottest brands in the world into a beautiful collaboration, which would see the legendary rock quartet united with the popular phenomenon Angry Birds – and All Hell’s Breaking Loose!
Keen to Shout It Out Loud, Simmons tells of the Rock ‘n’ Rovio connection and suggests a KISS themed addition to the Angry Birds series will soon “become a deal” adding “We are really trying to take it in areas that haven’t been done before and have stayed out of the marketplace because the ideas simply weren’t exciting enough. So while the gaming world is waiting for the KISS games that are going to explode, we’re busy taking the brand to places where no band has gone before”.
So can we expect painted avian versions of the Demon, the Star Child, the Space Man, and the Cat – complete with destructible stage sets – blasting from the Love Gun onto our Apple iPhones and Android gadgets?
Both popular culture names carry a legacy of memorabilia and marketing fads. In two short years the Angry Birds have been Larger Than Life, featuring in several games, with Seasons and Rio hit spin-offs, and appearing as a range of plush toys, t-shirts and speaker docks – this just a small sample of the bird-based goodies available to buy. And since the Crazy, Crazy Nights of KISS first began four decades ago the band has become the most lucrative merchandising machine in entertainment, with official merchandise including dolls, replica axe guitars, a pinball machine and even a KISS Kasket!
KISS and Angry Birds is truly a match made in Heaven (or is it Hell?) – We can’t wait!
