Lenovo shows off enormous 27-inch IdeaCentre Horizon “Table Tablet”

Lenovo has kicked off CES 2013 with a giant – the IdeaCentre Horizon. We’re presuming it has such a name because it can be seen on the horizon, as it’s that big.

The IdeaCentre Horizon is a massive 27-inch tablet running Windows 8, and it’s going to be on the show floor over in Las Vegas for all to see. Of course, a tablet this big is going to be no use for sitting in bed and watching TV, reading books on the train or anything that involves portability. Where it finds its purpose is as a table-top tablet with support for multiple users.

The Horizon’s 27-inch display is sharp with a Full HD resolution, along with multi-touch support for the different gestures that Windows 8 requires. Inside there’s said to be a powerful Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce graphics, so don’t expect this giant tablet to be any sort of slouch.

Lenovo has been showing off the tablet’s family fun factor at CES with games and a host of touchscreen accessories, such as air hockey pucks and stick-on joysticks that interact with various games.

At the moment the tablet is attached to a table-style stand to demonstrate its capabilities at CES, but we’d like to see it mounted to a wall or perhaps even sunk in to a desk as an awesome work PC.

The Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon will start at around $1,700 and will ship later this year in the summer.
