Lenovo ThinkPad and IdeaPad Tablets officially pictured

  • by

It would appear that Lenovo’s ThinkPad and IdeaPad tablet devices have decided to finally become official in some rather snazzy looking press shots released online.

Both tablets run Google’s Android Honeycomb operating system but with a different user interface added to each to emphasise their target market. The IdeaPad is a fun device aimed at the average customer – it’s got access to the web, movies and apps through a custom Lenovo user interface. The ThinkPad, sharing its name with Lenovo’s well renowned business laptop range, is aimed at the business customer.

The IdeaPad is a 10.1-inch tablet running Android Honeycomb 3.0 or 3.1. Like the ThinkPad, the IdeaPad uses an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor for speed and multitasking. It has front and rear cameras, an optional keyboard dock and a Media Dock user interface for quick access to movies and more. Lenovo say the IdeaPad will also be available in a range of different colours, though exactly which colour schemes will be available hasn’t been announced yet.

The ThinkPad tablet is again a 10.1-inch tablet running Android Honeycomb 3.0 or 3.1 but with a user interface angled towards the business user. It features the standard 4 physical buttons below the screen for Android, proprietary connector, MicroUSB, Mini HDMI out, rear and front facing cameras and a MicroSD Card slot.

Interestingly there’s also a touchscreen stylus with a red nib. The ThinkPad uses a capacitive touchscreen so generally a stylus wouldn’t work, unless it was a specially designed capacitive stylus like the one used with the HTC Flyer. Perhaps Lenovo want you to use the stylus for note making, annotations or even doodling.

We’re still waiting patiently on a UK release date and price, but we’ll keep you updated. In the meantime why not check out some official press pictures of the devices below and let us know what you think via our Official Twitter Page
