LG Optimus Pad on sale in the UK today!

The LG Optimus Pad (or G-Slate to our US readers) has today gone on sale in the UK, with UK retailer Carphone Warehouse offering it both SIM-free and on contract.

Sans-contract, the Optimus Pad will set you back a hefty £749.99. Alternatively, Carphone Warehouse is offering the 3D Tablet at a subsidised price of £299.99 if you sign up to a £25-a-month, 24-month contract with their own virtual network, TalkMobile. For your 25 english notes you’ll be given 5GB of 3G data to use per month, but nothing else.

The Optimus Pad/G-Slate is technically the world’s first 3D tablet, with Dual 5MP cameras. It packs Nvidia’s Dual-Core Tegra 2 (1GHz) processor for speed, Android Honeycomb (3.0), Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, Bluetooth and 32GB of onboard storage.

We first heard about LG’s Dual-Core, Dual-Camera, 3D-touting tablet back in February this year at MWC. A few months down the line and we managed to get our hands on the tablet and have a play around at the Gadget Show Live. You can see what we thought about it here.

Will you be heading to your local Carphone Warehouse to get your hands on the Optimus Pad, or is there a different tablet out there for you? Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment.
