LG Optimus Vu Android 4.0 ICS Launching in Europe in September

LG has announced that they will be bringing their odd shaped Android Smartphone the LG Optimus Vu to the UK and Europe next month 6 months after it was originally released in Korea.

But we won’t just be getting an old handset launched in Europe as LG has added a few performance tweaks to the Smartphone including upping the original dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU to a zippy Nvidia Tegra 3 4-Plus-1 quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU.

The handset itself is an odd looking thing with its large 5-inch but 4:3 aspect ratio display screen which looks more like a Start Trek style Tricorder (Google It!).

However the LG Optimus Vu is a decent bit of Kit with its fifth battery-saving core to help handle more power absorbing functions such as gaming and video streaming, 8.0 megapixel camera and 32GB of on-board storage plus running the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

According to LG, the Optimus Vu has proved rather popular in Korea, with the device selling over 500,000 units despite its form factor being rather unusual.

With the new updated processor the Optimus Vu also seems ripe for an Android Jelly Bean style upgrade…

We would love to get our hands on the device and see how some of our favourite Apps transfer to the odd shaped screen but in an age when it hard to tell the difference between One android Smartphone to the Next the LG Optimus Vu sure does stand out.
