Not keen on letting its Korean smartphone rivals take all the limelight, LG has tried to upstage Samsung’s Galaxy S4 launch with huge banners right next to theirs in Times Square, New York.
Earlier this month Samsung proudly showed off huge banners advertising the next Galaxy smartphone in Times Square, where it will reveal a brand new flagship smartphone later today. ‘Be Ready 4 The Next Galaxy’ the black and white banners read, hinting at the Galaxy S4 coming in two colours.
LG has since made a sneaky move, putting up almost identical billboards directly above Samsung’s that both advertise their own new smartphone, the Optimus G, and mock Samsung. ‘LG Optimus G is here 4 you now!’ they read.
It’s clearly a pop at the company’s closest rivals and an attempt to upstage their special day, and we can’t help but have a giggle at the whole thing. Tech companies are becoming more and more fickle and this sort of thing is becoming increasingly popular.
We very much doubt that LG will make a dent on Samsung’s event, which asides from Apple’s annual iPhone launch has become one of the hottest dates in a tech fan’s calendar. The company looks set to reveal the Galaxy S4 later today, joining the Full HD Android smartphone club which already has Sony and HTC as members.
The event kicks off at 11pm GMT and we’ll be staying up to bring you all the news as it happens.
