A fortnight ago, I (excitedly) covered the zombie-slaying, pom-pom pumping action to come in new game Lollipop Chainsaw, a Japanese developed title which had just gotten a publisher for western markets in the form of entertainment studio Warner Bros. Since that time, it seems they’ve been prepping a promo clip which has just been released to push the English-speaking release – now officially billed for 2012.
In the new trailer we get to actually see some of the playtime, featuring new game-girl Juliet Starling – a lollipop-licking cheerleader-stroke-slayer of the undead from San Romero High School (get it?). With a killer swing she packs, of course, that aforementioned Chainsaw.
The game is scripted by movie goremaster James Gunn, but surprising the trailer doesn’t show alot of blood-shed. There’s splatter alright, but it looks like in keeping with the character’s cutesy side many of the zombies get dispatched with a splash of pink and glitter rather than a full crimson massacre!
Spouting one-liners such as “Undead douche-bag” and “Bring it fat-ass” as she slices through her foes, Juliet’s not quite got the gift of the gab like, say, Bruce Campbell, but she’s got the appeal of Buffy – which gets her over with us!
Check out the new trailer – Lollipop Chainsaw is out for Xbox 360 and PS3 next year!
