LoveFilm reels out onto Apple iPad

Following Amazon’s assault on Apple with the launch of the new Kindle Fire tablet, bizarrely, its subsidiary LoveFilm appears in full force today on iPad. The video on-demand service touching down on the rival slab bringing the same online movies and telly goodness as can currently be found on a desk PC or smartphone near you – optimized for the popular tablet platform.

The imaginatively titled – LoveFilm Player for iPad is available on the App Store and offers previews and trailers of popular film choices to be scoped before purchasing the streaming rental. On offer are top titles and classics for a catalogue of over 67,000 movies – and the addition of many more through the recently announced partnership between LoveFilm and Optimum Releasing/Studio Canal.

Boss of LoveFilm, Simon Calver, has had a lot to say lately with the growth of his company. Addressing the move to iPad he states “In the process of making our service more portable than ever before, Lovefilm on iPad is the latest exciting step in giving film fans total control over their viewing schedule and our commitment to expanding the ways in which members can stream movies on a range of devices.”

There’s been no pause for LoveFilm lately and the UK largest online and DVD rentals service looks to playback the same successes as it delivers to its existing platforms, as it brings the finest blockbusters onto Apple’s hugely successful tablet – Despite potential to make an impact on the Kindle Fire launch.
