Marvel Assembles The Avengers on Blu-Ray – Briefcase Boxset includes Discs, Dossiers and Replica Tesseract!

Marvel really stole the show at the annual San Diego Comic-Con last weekend – with the surprise appearance of Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. and revealing the titles of five new movies including Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World both arriving in 2014 and making up two fifths of ‘Phase Two’ from the Disney–owned comic book and entertainment company’s ‘Cinematic Universe’. In the aftershock of these explosive announcements Marvel has now detailed a truly epic Blu-Ray experience collecting all of the ‘Phase One’ films and throwing in a whole bunch of exciting extras!

If like us you’re a huge comic nerd, the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Phase One: Avengers Assembled Blu-Ray Box Set will take your breath away – but that’s not only from saying the massively long title! This collection gathers all five individual characters movies, based on the superheroes Iron Man (1&2), The Incredible Hulk, Captain America and Thor as well as the recent Avengers flick combining them all in stunning high definition Blu-Ray. There are ten discs in total, loaded with the movies and lots of bonus features and these come presented in individual cases featuring a retro design in that minimalist art style.

Your average Blu-Ray box set would stop there and contain just the movies but the Avengers Assembled edition offers much more with some truly awesome ‘physical’ items thrown in that you won’t find anywhere else. These include a paper dossier straight from the archives of S.H.I.E.L.D. Detailed files from Agents Coulson and Romanoff (Black Widow) let fans read up on the back history of the Avengers recruits. Each folder also contains an extra replica prop. In the instance of Thor it’s his hospital wristband for Iron Man and the Hulk there are realistic newspaper clippings.

And the packaging is non-to-shabby either. In fact, the Phase One collection comes in a metallic briefcase with illuminated S.H.I.E.L.D emblem. The reason it’s illuminated is because locked securely within, alongside the discs and dossiers is a motion reactive replica of the Tesseract as seen in the Thor and Avengers movies (or cosmic cube to comic readers).

As far as we know this Marvel-ous set is only available in the States but rather than go into a Hulk-like rage we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a U.K version soon after – failing that you can always fork out for the overseas P&P fees to get one imported from Amazon when the set ships on September 25th.
