Microsoft has announced two new Lumia smartphones, one a 4G sporting Lumia 730, and a sister Dual SIM (3G only) Lumia 730 handset. Together MS are calling the handsets the Selfie phones as they sport some pretty impressive 5MP front facing cameras.

Other than the 4G/Dual SIM differences, the Lumia 730 and 735 are pretty much the exact same phones, with both sporting a 4.7-inch HD display with ClearBlack 720p resolution, 8GB storage, 2,200mAh battery, quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM inside a Snapdragon 400 chipset.
They sport a decent 6.7-megapixel rear camera which is enhanced with Zeiss optics and a f/1.9 aperture, and offer a improved focal length and wider angles.
The handsets are budget aimed, but Microsoft are really pushing the phones for its selfie’s use thanks to the Lumia Selfie app which will come built into the handsets and will help with capturing, editing and sharing selfie photos specifically. It includes filters that can be applied to an image after it has been taken, with and editing button allows for beauty enhancements like making eyes bigger, toning the skin and even making yourself slimmer and whitening your teeth.
The Lumia 735 is priced at €129 and 730 Dual SIM at €199 so Microsoft have a clear demographic (we think the Teens market) in mind for the new Lumia handsets, and with all this Selfie madness going on, they may just do pretty well. The Lumia 735 and Lumia a730 will be available to buy this month
The Selfie App will creating a beeping sound as the face detected is centred in the middle of the shot, as the face gets nearer to centre the beeping speeds up. It’s a bit like a parking sensor but for your face. This means the rear camera can be used for selfies without seeing the screen – meaning better quality shots as well as allowing selfie modes for phones with just one camera.
The Lumia 735 at €129 and 730 Dual SIM at €199 will be available to buy this month in Orange, Green, White and Black interchangeable colours.
