Microsoft’s online video magazine Inside Xbox will cease production in the United States, with the European edition moving away from the company and resting its fate in the hands of third-party producers.
Inside Xbox began in 2008 available through the Xbox LIVE network and YouTube delivers daily content including video interviews, discussions, reviews and behind the scenes footage on the top games releases and updates such as exclusives for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
The programming was based heavily on what the gamers wanted to see and Larry Hryb – aka Major Nelson – broke the news as per usual on his official blog started his notice personally and heartfelt: “In the last 10 years, Xbox LIVE has transformed in so many amazing ways, and as a community we’ve experienced so much together. I’ve personally witnessed many changes that have helped Xbox LIVE improve and together with our members we’ve created a community we all value and rely on”. The Major goes onto to say that the U.S production closure of the Inside Xbox web show will also affect Canada, Australia and New Zealand – but originally no mention of the U.K and Europe.
It’s now been noted in an update to the blog that Inside Xbox for our region will also cease to exist as a brand but be handed over to creators outside of the official Microsoft channel and with all hope they will continue the quality production and reliable source of location relevant information that Xbox 360 gamers have come to enjoy. Hryb also promises that “the focus remains on continuing to provide the Xbox LIVE community with the latest and best in games and entertainment news and information”.
