Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 set to launch on 14th March

It’s been in Beta testing for months now but finally Microsoft has put an official release date on the latest version of its internet browser, internet Explorer 9, set for release next week on the 14th or March 2011.

The launch will coincide with a Microsoft press event at the SXSW Interactive festival which takes place March 11-15, 2011 in Austin, Texas and will feature presentations  from some of the biggest and brightest names in technology, one of which being Microsoft.

Now the Best has been about for a while now and features a new Streamlined design as well as the following updates:

  • Pinned Sites
  • Download Manager
  • Enhanced tabs
  • New Tab page
  • Search in the address bar
  • Notification Bar
  • Add-on Performance Advisor
  • Hardware acceleration
  • Tracking Protection
  • ActiveX Filtering

Microsoft has seen its internet browser software take a large hit in recent years by rivals such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apples Safari so has been forced to make a major overhaul of its Internet Explorer software with better functionality and a much prettier design.

Internet Explorers tagline is “Play in a more Beautiful Web” and only time will tell if Microsoft has done enough to secure its number 1 status.
