Microsoft Picturesque Brings Bing to Android Lock Screen

Last week Microsoft infiltrated Android by introducing a number of utility apps including Office, Outlook and OneDrive arriving on the Google Play store. From today you can even welcome Microsoft onto your lock screen with the Bing search engine as part of the new Picturesque app available to download and install now.

Installing Picturesque allows you to replace your regular lock screen image when the screen is idle for Bing.com’s current background picture or any of your choosing from the past six days and this updates daily. You’ll also get the Bing search box positioned right there at the top for easy use while also displaying the date, time and weather.

The things you search for will appear without you even having to unlock the phone as will news and notifications, missed call information and camera and connectivity options. But the swipe to unlock is still always in plain sight in case you need full access to other mobile functions.

The idea to bring Bing to the Android lock screen with Picturesque is courtesy of Microsoft Garage – a understudy of the larger brand which delivers creative life hacks to our gadgets and brings workbench ideas to life.

Picturesque is available to download now from Google Play for Android 4.0.3 and above. And be sure to read more about the current projects from Microsoft Garage.
