Microsoft has announced its upgrade rollout of the new Windows 8 operating system today and has announced that they will be running a special Windows Upgrade Offer for any customers who have purchased a Windows 7 PC or Laptop in the past few months will be able to upgrade to the newer OS for a much cheaper prices.
When the new OS goes live on October the 26th any customer running the current Windows 7 system will be immediately out of date and Microsoft are keen not to annoy any new customers this early on.
So if you have purchased a Windows 7 running computer between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 you can register your name down to get a much cheaper upgrade to Windows 8 for £14.99.
The will run till February 28, 2013, so if you miss the deal, you’ll have to pay full price.
Microsoft announced the deal via Twitter on Monday:
“The @Windows upgrade offer is now available in 140 countries,” it read. “Register now! http://windowsupgradeoffer.com.”
If you want to take part in the deal you will need to provide Microsoft with your 25-digit Windows 7 product key as part of the online registration process, then from October 26th, Microsoft will send out promo codes via email, which can then be applied upon checkout within the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant.
Microsoft still haven’t released the pricing information for normal upgrade customers but with the final release date looming we can expect the information in the coming weeks.
