Ever noticed the Party Chat features (among others) on the Xbox One have been a bit dodgy to say the least? Microsoft have finally realised this and decided to roll out another mini update to hopefully remedy this, and other minor glitches.
The update 1405 is available to users who are part of Microsoft’s Xbox One Preview programme (a scheme that tests impending updates before continuing publicly). It will offer minor adjustments to the Party Chat function and the system update notifications and features.
The update includes a clearer indication of when an update is actually available by greying out the “Get System Update” option when there isn’t one to download. It will also change the wording to “Update Console” when there is an update to be had. This is so much better than just the usual “Get System Update” stab in the dark that used to be available, in my opinion anyway.

Some of the most reported issues were to do with the Party Chat and the sound getting muted if the app wasn’t snapped on the screen. Other issues included sound cutting out or no sound at all when recording video clips.
There isn’t yet a known date as to when other users, not part of the Xbox One Preview programme, can expect the update but at least it’s on its way!
Microsoft are also said to be working hard on a feature that allows you to pre-load and install games ahead of general release, and then play them as soon as they become fully available to buy. Again there isn’t a date for this update either, but it is definitely on the cards as their spokesperson Larry Hryb responded in a thread titled Xbox One Needs Pre Loading Feature: “All I can say right now is that yes, we want this feature as well.”

The future looks bright for the Microsoft Xbox One despite the initial teething problems on release, it seem the updates are here to lend a helping hand in redeeming its reputation as it battles to be top dog of the 4th gen consoles.
