Last week Microsoft announced that they will be releasing the Xbox One console in Japan this coming September, well following on form this announcement MS has now revealed that they would also be launching the One in China, making this the first Microsoft console to be sold in the region.
Until recently China has had a 14-year ban on foreign consoles, which has stopped any older Xbox devices being sold in the country until recent. This undoubtedly is a massive deal of Microsoft as china has over half a billion gamers, and many will want to see the previously restricted consoles in action.
Microsoft has partnered with BesTV to distribute the console in China, which allows the Xbox One consoles to be eligible for sale across the region. Microsoft will also be localising a laod of western games for the Chinese Market as well as producing many Original title as per the Japan release.
Microsoft have detailed the big news in a video where Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi. States:
“For the first time ever, Xbox One is coming to China with a full games and entertainment system,” and that “In China there are over half a billion gamers, so the opportunity to create global and locally created content to delight millions and millions of gaming families everywhere is something that we’re really passionate about.”
We already know that the Xbox One would be released in a further 26 new markets this September, with japan, China, Belgium, Sweden, Russia, Turkey, Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, and India now all being named.
The specific date may differ from country to country but, we do know that the Japanese launch will be on September the 4th.
