Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 gamers on the Xbox 360 will be getting yet another Map Pack this month in the form of the brand new “Overwatch” multiplayer map bundle, which will be released for Call of Duty Elite Premium subscription customers on the 21st of February 2012.
This is the latest in Activision’s newly branded “Content Drop” season which has promised to bring Elite Premium customers over 20 pieces of content in the next 9 months (until September 2012). Last month saw two new maps in the form of “Piazza” and “Liberation” and next month users will get a shiny package of “Black Box”, a new multiplayer map, and two new Spec Ops missions, dubbed Black Ice and Negotiator.
However, this month will see the release of just a single map. The official description reads:
“Call of Duty Elite Drop 3: Overwatch drops you into a construction site atop a New York City skyscraper. The battle takes place along two levels in a near symmetrical layout, with the central bridge and side routes open to attack from multiple angles. Watch your every step, as a lack of safety barriers surrounding the perimeter leaves nothing between you and a 70 story fall to the ground below.”
Immediately fans of the series will recall the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map Highrise, which also took place atop a skyscraper, featuring building and maintenance scaffolding to navigate around. Overwatch is looking set to bring some of the building-top madness back to the franchise.
The maps will be released to Xbox Live Elite Premium subscribers on the 21st of February and non-premium users can expect the map as chargeable DLC in the following months. As per usual PS3 users get the bad end of the deal as they will have to wait to find out when the new maps are released at all for the console.
