Have you just spent some good hard earned money on the brand new HTC Sensation and feel a little annoyed at the fact HTC have just announced an upgrade already, the HTC Sensation XE?
The new Sensation XE comes with some snazzy new additions including Sense 3.5 and the Beats Audio software, a processor and battery upgrade, and in the box it also it also comes with some snazzy Beats headphones.
So you and your Sensation feel outdated already. Well, if you could transform your HTC Sensation into a Sensation XE, would you? I certainly would. If this is somthing you would consider, it is now a possibility.
The Android Revolution Team over at XDA Developers have taken a little software ROM from the Sensation XE, worked some developing magic, and ported it to the original Sensation. So what does this mean? It means your new HTC Sensation has just been upgraded to the Sensation XE without you having to pay a penny – much better than another 2 year contract, or forking out another £500-£600 (definitely somthing i couldn’t bring myself to do).
With this upgrade, you won’t be able to replicate the hardware changes of the faster processor and bigger battery, of course, but you’ll get the benefit of Beats Audio software and the HTC Sense 3.5 user interface.
As usual this is a ‘flash at your own risk’ kind of procedure, but after HTC unlocked the bootloader of the Sensation, it’s somthing they expect some people will do. Just remember that performing this mod could void your warranty, and if the steps are not followed correctly you could end up with a rather expensive paper weight.
If your interested head over to XDA-developers and have a read, (a thorough read) before you give it a go.
As usual we would love to hear your thoughts. If you’ve given this mod a shot and got it to work, send us your thoughts via tweet to the Official Gadget Helpline Twitter or drop us a comment on our Official Facebook page!
